Festival: Summer Solstice
Bask in the warmth and brilliance of the season at our Summer Solstice Celebration on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Kettle and Crow Forest School. As we reach the zenith of daylight, the longest day of the year, we come together to honor the sun's life-giving energy and the abundance of nature.
Summer Solstice, celebrated across cultures and centuries, marks the peak of summer, a time when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. This day holds a special place in our hearts as we revel in the joyous beauty of nature and the warmth of the community around us.
At our celebration, the children will engage in fun, sun-inspired crafts and games designed to enrich their understanding and appreciation of this significant day. From making sun catchers to participating in shadow-play activities, the children will explore and marvel at the power of sunlight and its role in our lives.
As part of our commitment to honoring nature and its cycles, we'll also take a moment to learn about the significance of the solstice in different cultures and the scientific phenomenon behind the longest day of the year.
As the sun begins to set, we will gather around a bonfire to share stories and songs that honor the sun and the vibrant life it sustains. The crackling fire, a symbol of the sun's energy, will provide a warm, enchanting end to our celebration.
Join us as we celebrate the Summer Solstice, embracing the sun's warmth, the long daylight hours, and the joyous bounty of the season. Let's cherish the sun's nourishing energy, marvel at the world in full bloom, and soak up the magic of summer together!
